Acknowledgement of Abuse Victims and Survivors

Brisbane Catholic Education acknowledges the lifelong trauma of abuse victims, survivors, and their families; the past failure of the Catholic Church to protect, believe and respond justly to children and adults at risk; and the consequent breaches of community trust.

Our Approach to Safeguarding

BCE's approach to safeguarding is both proactive and preventative. We proactively create an educational environment in the Catholic tradition that protects students and adults-at-risk from abuse and exploitation and effectively responds to safeguarding concerns and those impacted, to minimise harm.

We enable a culture where students and adults-at-risk can question conduct or practices that may pose a risk to safety and wellbeing and promptly recognise, react and report safeguarding concerns.

We embed strong safeguarding practices across all aspects of our operations, through adherence with the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards and all relevant government standards and legal requirements.
